October 1, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

In this two-part series for family child care educators and center-based teachers, we will explore math learning in the early years, build math into the daily routine, and use unusual materials for math activities. Our focus will be on classification and patterning, the “building blocks” of number sense. Through hands-on experience, small group reflection, and group activities, we will focus on how educators facilitate math learning for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

  • Create classification and patterning play opportunities and provocations
  • Use unusual materials for math explorations.
  • Uncover the math, and math opportunities, in everyday play and routines.
  • Develop ideas for deepening children’s math thinking.
