Dual Language Learners and Their Astonishing Ability to Learn Languages

All humans have the extraordinary ability to learn to speak many languages. Come learn more about how you, as an early childhood educator, can support children and their families in their journey to acquiring one, two, or more languages!
 Participants will:
  • Gain a deeper understanding of language acquisition
  • Discuss the connection between language and culture
  • Identify best practices to enhance oral language and literacy skills for our young Dual Language Learners
  • Share strategies to engage with diverse families
  • Plan for individual language needs in their classrooms
  • Create a “language plan” for their classroom
  • Practice ways to engage children even when you don’t speak their language
  • Gain familiarity with the Head Start DLL Program Assessment Tool
Information (these workshops will be delivered in ENGLISH and SPANISH via zoom. Links will be sent to participants one week prior to the workshop. Participants must attend all three workshops to receive PD credits).
Date and time: 1:30PM to 4:30pm, 10/22/22,11/05/22, and 11/19/22
Also available: ongoing Professional Learning Communities (PLC) every third Wednesday of the month starting November 16, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM via zoom. Please email facilitators for more information.
