LEADING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD SETTINGS

Research shows that educators can transform their practices if given the opportunity to reflect with each other. Professional learning Communities, also known as Communities of Practice and Critical Friends’ Groups, give us a framework to transform our reflection into actions that benefit ourselves, our children, our families, our colleagues and our communities. This training will help you gain skills and tools to successfully lead Communities of Practice in your Early Childhood context.

Participants will:

-Discuss the needs of adult learners
-Learn about the evolution of Professional
-Learning Communities/ Communities of Practice
& Critical Friends Groups
-Share experiences as reflective educators
-Study facilitation strategies and approaches
-Discover the power of protocols for framing
discussions, dilemmas and cases
– Practice protocols for facilitation
-Plan for the implementation of Communities of
Practice in their setting
